George is a fourth generation Central Queenslander. The Birkbeck family are pioneers of the region having settled at the Glenmore Homestead on Rockhampton’s outskirts in 1861. The Glenmore Homestead today is a heritage listed tourist attraction run by George and his wife of over 45 years Judy.

George Birkbeck is a true Local and has been a beef & dairy cattle producer, Former Chairman of the National Trust of Queensland (Rockhampton Branch), Former Patron of the Rockhampton & District Historical Society, Former Board Member of the Capricorn Tourist Association and current member of the National Road Freighters Association (NRFA).

George is dismayed at the current lack of vision for regional and rural Australia. George said; “We need vision, guts and action. Investment in Nation building infrastructure for water, agriculture, mining, industry, transport and housing need to be the top priorities.”
Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) and George Birkbeck have the same values as the region, and will be aggressive representatives on rural and regional issues.

George’s vision and priorities;

  • Completion of the Bradfield scheme to revamp and energise inland Australia
  • Northern Australia to become the leading and most diversified agriculture region in the world
  • Low cost energy for industry and households
  • Reviving the great Australian dream of affordable housing
  • Significant up grades of “beef roads” and the Capricorn Hwy and Peak Downs to handle triple road trains
  • Complete the duplication of the Rockhampton to Yeppoon Rd
  • Ensure the 80% local content guarantee for the Shoalwater Bay Military Project.
  • Supports the building of a new coal fired power plant in Capricornia to support the grid
  • The current Jobactive system has failed an entire generation. A ‘one stop shop’ for prospective employees and employers
  • Major investment in TAFE, prioritising the traditional blue collar trades as well as resources, infrastructure, transport and agriculture industries.

“The big city parties, or the LLG (Liberal, Labor, Greens) have no interest in regional issues and are hostage to inner suburban lefties”

“The 9 million people of regional and rural Australia need dedicated and passionate representation. The KAP are proven fighters for the bush”
